NMS Held the 2nd Large-scale Theme Academic Salon Successfully – Experts and Gurus Gathered in High-quality Manufactured Sand Preparation and Application Seminar

From October 24^th to 26^th, the 2^nd large-scale theme academic salon – high-quality manufactured sand preparation and application seminar was held in Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province. It was hosted by China Aggregates Association (CAA) and undertaken by Nanchang Mineral Systems Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “NMS”), aiming to promote the technical progress and high-quality development of preparation and application of manufactured sand and aggregates as well as enhancing communication among colleagues in the manufactured sand industry.

On 25^th, the 2^nd large-scale theme academic salon – high-quality manufactured sand preparation and application seminar started in Nanchang City where more than 100 well-known experts and entrepreneurs from domestic sand and aggregates industry gathered together.

The experts and leaders attending the seminar mainly were Hu Youyi, President of CAA, Song Shaomin, Director of the Committee of Experts of CAA & Professor of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and Li Shunshan, Chairman of NMS and so on.

At the seminar, Hu Youyi, President of CAA made a report entitled “History and High-quality Development of Aggregates and Equipment Manufacturing”. Starting with three industrial revolutions, he thoroughly introduced history and development of crushing and screening equipment as well as manufactured sand application, and put forward his own opinions on “intelligent manufacturing and smart mining”, “future development mode of aggregates industry” and “several problems that enterprises should pay attention to”.

Theme 1: Innovation and Practice of Aggregates Equipment and Technology of New Generation

His speech entitled “Innovation and Practice of Aggregates Equipment and Technology of New Generation”, Li Shunshan, Chairman of NMS pointed out that in order to build a high-quality aggregates system, it was necessary to optimize the crushing and screening equipment and process. And understanding the characteristics of rock, manufactured sand and equipment was the key to the preparation of manufactured sand. He stressed that it was imperative to deeply understand the meaning of the great era of aggregates as well as the requirements of crushing and screening equipment in this era, and grasp the technical breakthrough point of crushing and screening equipment.

He introduced that in the era of aggregates, NMS insisted on innovating and realized the breakthrough of technology of crushing and screening equipment, and manufactured a series of crushing and screening equipment, mobile plant and sand-making tower.

The new CC800 single cylinder hydraulic cone crusher introduced by NMS has advantages of large capacity and good shaping effect. The innovative design of the top shell and bottom shell disassembly system can easily realize the disassembly and installation, which is fast and convenient. The VS2000 impact crusher has super large single processing capacity and has been widely used in fine aggregates shaping and artificial sand manufacturing. In addition, NMS also has MOS elliptic screen, MLS screen, flip-flow screen, MSP sand-making tower and other advanced products.

NMS has been promoting high-quality development of the industry all the way.

He hoped that the experts and entrepreneurs from scientific research institutes, engineering design and construction units, concrete preparation and manufactured sand preparation enterprises would jointly explore how to accelerate the wide application of high-quality manufactured sand in commercial concrete and promote the healthy development of high-quality manufactured sand industry.

Theme 2: High-quality Manufactured Sand and Its Applied Technology

Gao Gao, Senior Engineer of Building Materials Research, Chinese Academy of Building Research, gave a speech entitled “Characteristics of Manufactured Sand and Its Concrete Preparation Technology”. When he was introducing the characteristics of manufactured sand, he pointed out that, currently some so-called manufactured sand were chips, and the poor quality of chips was a vital reason for the decline of concrete performance. There were unreasonable gradation, mixture with poor rheology, poor shape, large amount of paste, high porosity and poor volume stability of chips, which easily led to large defects in local concrete, resulting in the decline of mechanical property and durability.

He pointed out that it was not enough to use the MB value 1.4 of manufactured sand to control the content of stone powder. The coarse aggregates also had gradation issue. The continuous gradation was with discontinuity, and the continuous gradation of coarse aggregates was easy to segregate during production, stacking, transportation, loading and unloading. The big change of porosity was not conducive to the quality control of concrete. It was recommended that aggregates enterprises should provide single grain level materials, and the concrete mixing plant enterprises should set up multiple silos.

The seminar focused on “innovation and practice of aggregates equipment and technology of new generation” and “high-quality manufactured sand and its applied technology” for free discussions, and the guests expressed their opinions one after another. After a fierce collision of thinking and wisdom, this seminar came to an end temporarily.

Song Shaomin, Director of the Committee of Experts of CAA & Professor of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, summed up the salon and pointed out that it was necessary to solve gradation and stone powder control. Forming a batch of superior enterprises with high capacity as soon as possible, maintaining a fair market order and realize high-quality and good price is essential. The aggregates production line should have adjustable function to meet different customers’ needs. Efforts should be made to improve equipment process and the products should be benchmarked with high-quality aggregates standards. To improve the concrete design, making concrete with good premixed performance is necessary.

He stressed that the principle of “meeting each other halfway” should be adhered to manufactured sand and its application.

Innovation and perfection for standards and specifications should be adapted to the era of manufactured sand;

It is necessary to deeply study the influence and mechanism of high-quality manufactured sand on concrete performance and engineering quality;

Functional admixtures are critical matching technology, and the importance of workability of modern concrete has not been highly valued;

The design of concrete mix proportion should be changed in line with manufactured sand.

On the same day, the guests visited NMS. The NMS staff warmly introduced the brilliant history of the enterprise in 50 years, the newly-built No.5 heavy equipment workshop, R&D center, etc. The guests praised the facilities, equipment and operation of NMS, and the rapid development and achievements of the enterprise in recent years.
